As a profession, physicians need to collectively look at all the policies, regulations, mandates, financial arrangements and such that impact the patient-physician relationship and our autonomy, the evidence that these have any clinical validity, and the (perverse) incentives of those who promote these. While I respect many of the various Boards members, and certainly mine, any thinking physician would have great trouble accepting Dr. Nora’s points for anything other than a fable, pushed by bureaucrats who wish to protect their financial arrangements and power.
With all due respect due your office, your policies are destroying the potential opportunities for all US citizens present and future – the same opportunities our country extended to you that made your success possible. Your administration has the highest debt of any previous in our country’s history. Adding to this debt is your signature achievement, PPACA Obamacare, that is destroying any semblance of private individual healthcare in our country. Your three fundamental promises about PPACA Obamacare – “you can keep your health plan,” “you can keep your doctor,” “you’ll save $2,500 per family” – were all bold face lies. Despite the dozens of times you reassured the media and public that “you can keep your health plan,” millions of people are losing their affordable health insurance and being forced by your law to purchase more expensive bloated coverage that they do not want to purchase and cannot afford. So your promise of saving a family $2,500 per year is another lie. Continue reading →
Dr. Blackwelder, practicing family physicians believe and practice by the Oath of Hippocrates for patients and individuals not the socialist/communist Plato population medicine being advocated by the US government. The AAFP should back its individual physicians and their individual patients, not control schemes like PPACA Obamacare.
Best wishes for good health,

The evidence is overwhelming that PPACA cannot be sustained or even run by the government and will ultimately cost far more than predicted by anyone thus far which is many times more than what we were “Promised”. No promises on this law have been kept and excuses pour profusely from the government offices in many forms and associated with massive denials o for the truth.
