Partnership with FSMB to Share Data

TheAOA and the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) have entered into an agreement to cooperate by sharing data for the benefit of the osteopathic medical profession. Under the agreement, medical and osteopathic licensing boards will have better information about a DO’s AOA board certification, as will members of the public who use the FSMB’s DocInfo service, which currently only lists ABMS board certification. Aggregate information about DOs will also go into the FSMB’s periodic physician census reports to give health officials a more accurate picture of DOs’ impact on the physician workforce. The FSMB is providing the AOA with information to help establish that Osteopathic Continuous Certification (OCC) participants meet the requirements of OCC Component 1, holding a valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in one of the 50 states.
